Homebuilt Toys

This book describes (through 126 photos and drawings…) steps for building exciting parent-child toy projects and science gismos, which can be made from common household throw away items. The toys are made using bottle lids, plastic bubble packaging, cardboard, paper, Tin can parts, coffee stir sticks and wood scraps. Toys include a windup spool toy, two wooden Army Tanks, a WWII model airplane of coffee stirrers and a grocery sack, a real Compass made from wood and a tin can lid, a Kaleidoscope, A pair of pull toy dogs for toddlers, and a classic wooden toy train set like the old days, etc.– about a dozen fun projects in all. In making these items, kids will benefit from building useful projects using basic tools safely–they will learn to persevere step-by-step to complete a toy or scientific device, solving problems along the way as they gain skills and confidence in their abilities. They will discover that things in life worth having do not come from pushing buttons on a video game.
